Iskraemeco and K-Electric, the leading utility in smart metering deployment in Pakistan, have recently signed an agreement to prolong a long lasting and successful partnership. With the last meter order, K-Electric will cover their annual demand and expand the number of smart grid applications. After a successful project completion the number of installed devices will reach 60 000.
Iskraemeco smart meters shall be connected to SEP2W Head-End system through point-to-point communication. SEP2W will be responsible for analysing and managing metering data from the entire smart meter population. This will enable K-Electric to manage larger consumers, read the meters remotely and consequently lower a large portion of current operational costs.
Majority of the meters will be installed at commercial and industrial sites throughout Karachi. The modularity of the MT880 gives the utility the much-needed flexibility in a smart metering deployment. With an exchangeable communication module, various communication options can be used at different metering points – depending on the topology of the area. The meters based on rigorous regulations for smart metering devices set by K-Electric have successfully passed factory acceptance testing in the Slovene facility.
Iskraemeco is already an established brand in the Middle East and in Pakistan especially. “The Iskraemeco team strives to meet their customers` current and future demands and is determined to provide excellent service in every stage of the project,” Eng. Adnan Ali Sheikh, General Manager Smart Grid at K-Electric.
