Iskraemeco Capacities
Iskraemeco Kranj operates one of the largest Europe-based R&D centres in the metering industry, employing more than 120 hardware, firmware and software application development specialists.
The R&D team continuously explores new avenues to ensure further growth of the company’s products and solutions portfolio in the field of electricity meters (Residential Smart Meters-RSM, Industrial Meters-ICG / Lean / Standalone), communication products (Data Concentrators-DC / Gateways-GW), software solutions (Head-End System-HES and Field tools), solutions (Point-To-Point solution-PTP, G3 Power Line communication solution-G3-PLC, End-To-End security solution) and services. The team offers top-notch expertise in measurement and communication technologies (2G/3G/4G, Nb-IoT, LTEM, PLC, RF mesh, etc.), masters a full suite of modern development technologies such as virtualization, simulation, and static code analysis, and implements Agile practices by using Scrum. As a further competitive advantage, the R&D centre provides validation of products through an independent quality assurance system and operates its own MID-accredited measurement laboratory.
Our R&D department also consists of an Innovation team. Its activities span Proof of Concept (POC) projects with new technologies, product portfolio upgrades with new innovative features, and identifying the opportunities for innovative products and solutions in existing and emerging market segments such as Smart grids and E-mobility.
In Slovenia and abroad, Iskraemeco’s R&D department has become synonymous with innovation. Its most recent accomplishments, namely the modular meter platform, Fair Meter and the Smart grid communication platform have earned multiple regional and national Gold Innovation Awards and led to Iskraemeco being recognised as the ‘best industry partner’ of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, University of Ljubljana.
Fully aware of the rapid pace of technological advances and the need to bridge the gap between academic research and the needs of the industry, Iskraemeco’s R&D centre actively participates in many international standardization bodies and industry associations (DLMS UA, IEC, IDIS, G3 PLC Alliance, ESMIG, etc.), collaborates with universities on research projects, and enters into joint research projects with partners from the industry, both at a national and international level.
