Iskraemeco’s evolution throughout the years has been distinguished by a flourishing portfolio of products and services and by the constant expansion of our global influence. Today our network of partners, subsidiaries, and production facilities is strong and responsive, ready and able to provide reliable and efficient support services to our entire client base.
Our robust portfolio of smart meters and grids lets us predict future needs for efficient energy management. Digitalised solutions based on IoT, data lakes, and smart cities gives utilities the necessary data to manage energy use, anticipate demand, and optimize costs. They also help consumers act more sustainably, while significantly lowering their energy bills.
In 2007, Iskraemeco joined forces with Elsewedy Electric. A shared vision of a smarter, more energy-efficient future is the driving force that connects the two companies in our energy ventures. By joining the Elsewedy group, Iskraemeco attained a valuable business partner and unprecedented opportunities for growth and development.
On the wings of our past achievements, decades of experience and a wealth of expertise, we dare to dream about the next 75 challenges to come.
We are in another exciting 75 years of business. New techological challenges, new market demands, new sustainable solutions.
But connectivity remains. It has led us through the past 75 years and it will guide us further into the future. Let us unite in search of a vision that reaches beyond our jobs.
Iskraemeco’s future is bright – bright green and smart. It became a pioneer of the Fair Meter concept in 2015, which promotes the company’s aspirations to deliver premium products founded in globally sustainable policies. Iskraemeco is aggressively pursuing its sustainability strategy, built on the three pillars of material scarcity, carbon footprint reduction, and unequivocally ethical behavior from source to product. Digital services are another bright part of Iskrameco’s future. In a progressively interlinked and hyperconnected world, companies need more than just the smartest meters on earth; they need experienced, dedicated companies to help manage their data and information flows. Iskraemeco’s digital expertise makes it the world’s most reliable provider of these services.
STRENGTHENING MARKET POSITION
Decades of hard work led to Iskraemeco’s proud 2007 entry into the joined Elsewedy Electric group. This strategic move strengthened Iskraemeco’s EMEA market position and established smart meters as an invaluable part of Elsewedy’s product portfolio.
The company further joined IDIS in 2011, helping lay down industry-wide interoperability standards. Its Mx381 meter family became the first to receive IDIS certification. Three years later Iskraemeco unveiled its fourth-generation modular, future-proof AM550 smart meters.
2014 and 2015 were marked by massive projects with several Dutch utilities, including Alliander, Enexis, and DELTA Netwerkbedrijf. Up to 2.5 million smart meters are set to be supplied by 2020.
The 90s saw Iskraemeco innovating on a global scale, turning out the ME100 and the MT300 in 1992, revolutionary meters with integrated monolithic circuits and Hall sensors.
The company tackled its quality and environmental protection systems in 2001 in alignment with the ISO 9001:2000 standard. SEP was also launched, the first system for residential energy metering and billing.
Iskraemeco’s successes led to 2 landmark projects with Swedish Vattenfall and Finnish Telia Sonera in 2004. The companies teamed up for Vattenfall’s installation of 150,000 PLC and GSM/GPRS metering points in rural areas, and then for Telia Sonera’s impressive GSM/GPRS network of 600,000 smart meters. These projects became the cornerstones for future endeavors.
During the 1960s efforts were centered on expanding production capacities and entering new markets. The stage was being set for the upcoming innovations.
The next decade was marked by the TE2, the company’s first industrial meter for measuring electricity consumption in 1975. The TE3 followed two years later, the company’s most accurate meter class up to that point.
10 years later Iskraemeco put a feather in its cap, installing Bosnia and Herzegovina’s first industrial metering and billing system for electrical energy. This landmark achievement thrust the company among the industry’s giants in the world.
Along the Sava River an extensive industrial zone consisting of former textile and machinery factories is overhauled and repurposed. A year later the newly named Iskra begins producing electricity meters based on the Ferrari principle. The industry immediately recognizes the quality of Iskra’s meters and resulting in a skyrocketing of demand .
Almost a decade after the first meter was manufactured, production capacity is pushed to the limits. Iskra embraces this challenge and builds its own production line in 1954, beginning with regular assembly of 3-phase meters, 4 years later.
